Ironman Registration
We made our way to sunny Arizona to sign up for the event. Sign-ups for these things apparently fill up really fast and registration needs to be done in person to guarantee a spot. We stood around for an hour or so at the Tempe Beach Park in Arizona and chatted with a few other Ironman hopefuls. We saw some crazily fit human beings and couldn't help but notice the various sweet ironman tattoo situations that people had. Any suggestions for us on design and placement? Haha. (Video coverage of this 'event' is coming soon)

Little Delay, BudandKurt in the Sick Bay
After just getting ourselves comfortable in the water and adjusting our goggles to the perfect tightness, we simultaneously caught bugs. Kurt started to get a terrible sore throat and it quickly progressed into a flu-like firestorm under his chest. As the team player that Bud is, he followed suit and caught some other string of sick that gave him a fever, induced a seven sneeze-streak, and made him cough until his lower back ached. This week wasn't the best for BudandKurt, but we found some positive things during this experience; Kurt is really good and launching things from his throat, Bud can cough and sound almost like a barking seal, and our good friend Tyler does not appreciate the sound of either talent (thanks for your TLC, Ace). Because we have been a little sick for a bit, the training has taken a short break. We took this short break to reflect on exactly what we are putting in our body and how well we are actually training, and we plan to get right back to training very soon with a much more focused and quality program. Look forward for an upcoming post with a video compilation of a routine BudandKurt workout! Thanks again everyone for all of your support!

Now we're part of the club...
If Average Joe's really existed it would be our kind of gym. Yesterday, we decided to set things off by joining a gym to have access to a swimming pool. We need to learn how to swim if this Ironman thing is going to work out. We were promised a sweet deal with minimal initiation fees by a gentleman named Brandon then when we got there, Brandon was no where to be seen and we were bent over by a lady named Christina who proceeded to show us our options. We're both business students and we're not stupid...we're pushovers...but we're not stupid. This lady jerked us around giving us a typical sales shpeel and we ended up getting the membership for L.A. Fitness. We headed straight towards the pool with speedo, goggles, earplugs, and all ready to go. As expected, swimming sucks horribly bad. Bud had a little better handle on it than Kurt as Kurt struggled with breathing partially just cuz he freaking hates water in general. We were both able to do about two times back and forth in the pool which we have yet to figure out the actual distance of. Needless to say we have a long way to go. Not only did we get exhausted this time but we both just about choked to death by accidently drinking a fourth of the pools water. Swimming will definitely be the hardest part of this whole thing but there's no doubt that we'll be swimming as strong as dolphins (or another strong swimming sea creature) in no time.
